Vista crashs after applying updates

I have a clean install of Vista Ultimate - installed the WUA to get updates -
update tells me x number of update found - after installing all important
update vista wants to restart - when it restarts I get BSOD stop error 079 -
I can restore the system by booting from dvd and doing a system restore -
after installing WUA again and trying to apply updates I have the same
results BSOD.

What all are you installing? Details about your system?
If OEM perhaps you should be looking for help from it?
