Frank,
I think the more salient issue in this ng is the trolls and malcontents who
spin their own agendas, like the op of this thread.
I too am amazed by some of the posts I see in here but one must remember,
now and always, that most people aren't IT pros. Those people would be
having problems whether they were running Vista, XP, W2K, OS X, Ubuntu,
whatever... they just don't have the chops. (And may never have...) Some
problems are language related, i.e., someone posts a query in their
non-native language and we have trouble parsing it. Some problems are with
folks still running beta code... or got an OEM box where the OEM did a
crappy job of vetting their crapware and drivers with Vista. Or... on and
on... but the point here is Vista is -not- trouble free, which is,
apparently, what everyone seems to expect. LOL!
Excuse me while I wander over to the XP general ng and see if there are any
problems there. Uh, yeah?
Let's take a leisurely stroll through the Ubuntu ng. Holy Crap! There are
people with problems there! Who'da thunk?
Let me fire up my browser and take a gander at what's going on in the
Discussion forums on Apple's site. Hmm... I don't think anyone, anywhere,
would purchase -anything- from Apple if they went by the posts in those
forums.
So... even though I've installed Vista on five different Dell platforms and
it's run like a top on every one (excepting, of course, the laptop with
512MB RAM... gawd, THAT was painful!), I do not expect that every Jack n'
Jill out there is going to have a problem free Vista experience and I will
do my best to try to assist them. Sometimes that pans out. Sometimes it
doesn't. C'est la vie.
