Vista default Color scheme dissapeared ,

I restarted my computer and when I turned it back on my computer had switched
the color scheme to the window's 97 color scheme , instead of the vista
default that my computer had previously been set on . When i tried to switch
it back both of the vista color schemes had disappeared , does anyone know
what may have happened , or how i can fix it ?

see if the themes service is running

to do that press the START button and in the search box write services.msc
and press enter

see the list for themes service and see if its running

if its not running right click and start it. and try to apply your theme
again.
