I thought I'd look into the issue with my USB devices again tonight
after I realised that it wasn't just my USB stick that didn't work, it
was my phone too. I think the problem was with any USB device that
wasn't attached when I installed Vista, maybe, maybe not.
Anyway, I discovered that if you copy a version of 'usbstor.inf' that
you will find in a sub-dir on your C:\ drive to C:\WINDOWS\INF, then
delete any unrecognised devices then re-scan it finally resolved the
issue. Took AGES when searching for software at this screen but fixed
in the end.
