OEM software is licensed only to the hardware it was sold with, in most
cases. Unless you purchased the disk without hardware, you likely will find
it will not 'authenticate'

Sorry, but the license for an OEM version of Windows Vista is
permanently tied to the first computer it was installed and activated
on. Only retail licensed versions are transferrable.

DSP are like OEM and are "tied" to the first computer you install them on...
thats what the EULA says..

of course you could lie cough cough.. that your motherboard got fried and
you replaced it,
and activate by phone (calling microsoft when you get prompted to activate
vista) :-) ... cough cough..

But we dont tell lies here... right? :-)

as we told you.. if you want to play by the rules no..

its tied to the OS you first install it to..

if you dont use it on that pc you cant use it at all....

thats why OEM liscences are cheaper than retail....

if you had retail you could install it anywhere

Nope. Once an OEM copy is installed on one PC, that license lives or dies
with that PC. Period. No transfer.

Sorry but no, the EULA does *not* permit this. A retail version can be
moved from one system to another, as long as it is on only one system
at a time.

An OEM version has an additional restriction: its license ties it
permanently to the first computer it's installed on. It can never
legally be moved to another computer, sold, or given away, except
along with that computer.

That's the reason I normally recommend against OEM versions.

I do have another question so I don't mess up the booting of vista. I am
using 160 Gig SATA HDD for the OS and it will be my main HDD can I also use
EIDE HDD with SATA? I have 2 Seagate 160 Gig drives I would like to keep and
use, but not at the cost of a fast boot time.
