Vista Enterprise -Updates were installed: date & time (failed)

I believe my Vista Enterprise machine is not getting any further updates
since the initial run of Windows Update. The Windows Update screen displays
"Windows is up to date" but there is also a line of text as follows: Updates
were installed: date & time (failed) No further updates have been installed
since that date & time. I find it curious that a "failed" message appears
with no error code. I have this same scenario on two Vista Enterprise
machines; one which is activated and one which is not activated. The last
update on the activated machine was 6/22/2007. Any recommendations?
