Hi,

I need help with a Vista Home Premium system. I am trying to figuare
out and repair why I am unable to load security updates (I get error
80244019) and defender (I get error 0x80244019). When I try to access
any search engine besides Goggle, I can not bring it up. So I can't get
to Hotmail or Yahoo mail. Has anyone had this problems and if so, how
did you fix it?

Thank you,
Tinamarie

Hi,

The error code indicates it can't reach the site. While this most often
happens due to firewall or proxy server issues, I suspect your problems are
due more to a problem with malware since it's not just Windows Update that
is giving you fits. A full scan in safe mode with updated antimalware
(antivirus and antispyware) software may help.

Hi,

When you start the system (or restart), simply tap the F8 key immediately
after the initial POST or manufacturer logo splash screen, just as Windows
begins to load. This will get you a boot menu where you can select safe
mode. Login with an administrator account and perform the scans.
