Vista fast enough?

There was an article on Internet that Windows Server 2008 is faster than
Vista. I have no problems with Vista (Business) speed. I have it installed
on Dell laptop: 2GHZ Core Duo, ATI graphics card, 2GB RAM, 7200 RPM disk
drive and also external eSata disks.
Just wondering: why there's that talk about Vista performance problems? Do
these issues show up when Vista installed on old hardware? My computer is ~2
years old, but Vista flies on it.
