Hi everyone. This is my first post on this site as I just stumbled upon
it. I am TRYING to download and install Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro
and...well...I CAN'T FIND THE FILE I JUST DOWNLOADED!!!

This is insane. Look at this picture (snipping tool is handy, though)
and tell me what you think:

Sorry the images is SOOOO big, but you all have big monitors, right?
Anyway, the both of these windows are looking in the EXACT SAME
location. Why does one of them show the acropro... file and one
doesn't???

AM I INSANE OR IS VISTA CRAZY?

Thanks everybody,

Jonathan

Since your picture covers up the path for the directory where I can see
Adobe Acrobat D.., I can't say that these two directories are the same.
It looks to me like you are downloading into two separate directories
but I can't tell from your picture.

Suggestions:

1. Take a better picture of each location - one at a time. You can have
two pictures! Maybe even three!
2. In the picture of the Save As dialog box, hit the drop-down arrow so
we can see the path leading to the target download location.

I agree, one could be viewing Downloads in the Public folder the other in
the user folder. Need clarification.

Not sure how to explain this one...I am looking in the same folder as
far as I know. Can't you guys see that the folders have the same
contents (except for the mystery file)? The top window is a "save as..."
window, so obviously it's only going to show .exe files. Here are two
pictures, this time with "all files" rather than "exe files" being
selected as the file type in the "save as..." window.

Again, sorry for the huge images. I don't have any utilities on this
machine to resize them yet.

I can't show you the exact paths, because if I click the drop down and
then click the snip tool, it closes the drop down, and if I go into snip
first it wants to snap a picture of the window before I can click the
drop down. I am telling you they are the correct paths though, I go to
c:\users\jsnyder\downloads\. Should be pretty straightforward...

You say "I am looking in the same folder as far as I know" and I'm
saying that as far as I know, you aren't. The pictures (I don't know why
you think their size is a problem) just don't give me a true picture.
However, instead of wrestling with this why not simply download the
Acrobat trial to your Desktop and see if that works better? Since
apparently you are able to download other things.

Hi, Headache.

> I am looking in the same folder as
> far as I know.

Maybe not. We can't click in the Address box of the pasted image to see the
whole address, but you can.

Just right-click anywhere in each Address box, click "Copy Address as Text",
then Paste each one into your next Reply. Even though you see only a part
of the pathname, the Copy should get the whole thing. Even from a Save As
window.

I note that in your original screen shot, the AcroPro80_efg file shows up in
the Save As window, even though only .exe files are supposed to be shown.
Apparently, the full name of the file is AcroPro80_efg.exe, but you have the
extensions hidden. In the other shots, we can't tell if extensions are
hidden, but my guess is that they are, since your file "Enterprise" shows no
extension, even though it is of the type "Application" and probably has an
..exe extension. We can't tell what your other settings might be, but
something may be preventing AcroPro80_efg from being displayed, even if it
is there.

Somewhere I got lost in your posts. First of all, you have not yet
downloaded the program so why are you searching for it. You HAVE to click
the "Save as" button to start the download. Usually the file is saved to
C:\Users\"put your user name here"\Downloads unless you change the path.
