Vista Folder Cut Paste Does NotWork!!!

Intel Quad 2.4GHz 4G RAM two 500 SATA 3G Drives C:\ & D:\.

Vista Ultmate with all the updates except Service Pack 1

I I have duplicate fles on a pen drive and cut them and paste them to the
same folder name on the C:\ drive, it does not cut and paste!

With Multiple folders - it complains and I tell it to do it by checking the
little box telling it to do all - it does not do it.
It stops. after doing a few.

I then try with a single folder, it moves (copy over all files) but leaves
an empty top level folder on the pen drive.

Same with HD to HD C:\ o D:\.

And it is dog slow ~ 1MByte/Sec.

Even Vista hard disk to hard disk is dog slow ~ 2MBytes / sec.

I can cause Vista to do 50 MBytes / sec with the same C:\ drive in a program
I wrote.

What is wrong with this?

This is noting like XP.
XP performed as expected.
Vista is all screwed up!

Any help out there?

No I am not going back to XP. I want Vista Media Center.

My hazy/lazy impression is that in Vista when something does not copy it is
because it is "in use" by something else and that that can include being on
the most recently used list (MRU) of any application or on the Start/Recent
Items list or just have a shortcut (link) pointing to it. Again if the item
has been copied from an optical medium it may be read only or otherwise
blocked; part of the price, I guess, for a more secure operating system. I
would be interested in seeing an expert analysis.

I don't really know if this is what you want, but try the following and see
if it works for you. It's for XP but works in Vista as well. I have used it
in Business & Enterprise and does 'copy' & 'move' folders.

Best of luck.
