My hazy/lazy impression is that in Vista when something does not copy it is
because it is "in use" by something else and that that can include being on
the most recently used list (MRU) of any application or on the Start/Recent
Items list or just have a shortcut (link) pointing to it. Again if the item
has been copied from an optical medium it may be read only or otherwise
blocked; part of the price, I guess, for a more secure operating system. I
would be interested in seeing an expert analysis.
