Vista Font Problem

Greetings,

I'm having some difficulty with fonts in Vista Ultimate with Office
2007.

Everything looks fine on almost every website...but when I visit
Wikipedia, the text does not display correctly.

The problem seems to be limited to IE7. My IE7 text size is "medium,"
and my fonts are Latin-based Times New Roman and Courier New. I'm
also using ClearType.

I've linked two images which I hope are worth 1,000 words. The "good"
image shows how things look on someone else's Vista system.
Coincidentally, this is also how things look when using Firefox and
Opera on my system.

The "bad" image shows how things look with IE7 on my system.

The problem began a few days ago, shortly after I wiped and reloaded
my system with my Vista Ultimate CD. Once the system was patched, I
re-installed my large font collection by Robocopying the fonts into
\windows\fonts, then I used the Font control panel to install them
(without copying them to the font folder, because that seemed
logical).

I suppose that I've overwritten or corrupted a default font, but I
have no idea how to determine which. I've run SFC /SCANNOW but that
didn't fix the problem.

I'd very much appreciate some suggestions on how to fix this without
upending my world.

Best regards,

Tim ==

Fonts can be a pain to sort out. Clearly from the two images,
WikiPedia is displaying a different font in each case. If you have
set IE to use Times, it must be the Wiki page setting a different
font, or a style sheet modifying the choice. Try looking at 'View -
Source' to identify the font set by the page itself, either directly
or by some style sheet(s) it calls up. If it's a font you have
installed, uninstall it - it looks ugly anyway. If you want to you
could write a user style sheet to over-ride the page setting, but
that may be over-complicating the situation.

Look to see if you have installed a font on your system that is 'named' the
same as Arial or MS Sans Serif aliases. For example a real 'helvetica, Sans
Serif' etc...
