is this a vista or gateway problem

I have an unusual problem (unusual for me).. I have a gateway computer
with vista home edition. when I turn on my computer, I get a windows
error recovery screen asking whether I want to launch startup repair or
start windows...they both eventually me back to the startup repair...it
states "your computer was unable to start, startup repair is checking
your system for problems. it just keeps going backk to that screen.
never repairs anything, and goes no further. Is this a vista issue or
an issue with gateway...

if anyone can help me out on this, i would greatly appreciate the help.

System Restore is also available from the F8 menu you can get during a
restart.

Hi,

Sounds like a Vista issue. First, do as Mark has indicated and attempt a
system restore. Should that fail, you may need to either reload the system
or, if you can find or have a Vista disk, you can follow the steps here:
