Vista hangs when I open tiff file with Windows Foot Gallery

Tiffs can be quite huge.. you say that Photo Gallery intends to open them
but then hangs, so this can be very well a memory problem - how much RAM is
installed in your machine and how big are those pictures ?

Remember that Vista alone needs 512 MB just for the core OS, plus Gallery
and what else is running.. every picture you open needs also to fit in the
memory, too. The moment "it hangs", could be the moment the physical Ram is
filled up and Vista might try to swap memory to the Harddisk.

Vista OS hangs when I open tiff file with Windows Foot Gallery.
Somehow it is able to open tiff file with one page inside.
But for multiple pages tiff file, vista just hangs and I need to forcefully
turn off my PC.

I have 2GB of memory and the tiff file size is only 721 kb.
I tried to open the file when there is no other application running, but
the results is the same, Vista will just hang.
I tried to opened the file from another PC that runs XP, but it has no
problem.

I see.. well then this might very well be one of those thousands bugs inside
this catastrophic OS.
Wait if ServicePack 1 will fix it for you. In the meantime do not use that
Gallery app.

Alternatevly there is "Windows Live Photo Gallery" which is almost identical
to the Vista application, but has support for publishing pictures to
Spaces,flickr and msn soapbox. It comes together with the MSN messenger and
new Mail application, which essentially replaces Vistas Mail too..
