Hi all,
having problems with VISTA BIZ EDITION
on a HP Compaq 8710p (2g ram - 200gb hd - new computer)

Problems all involve either WINDOWS Explorer or INTERNET explorer (v7).
When using the ADDRESS BAR in either it is quite sluggish sometimes taking
up to a minute to load the address you typed in. However with IE in
particular if i hit the HOME PAGE button its quick takes 1 second to load
google. But if i type in "www.google.com" (or any address for that matter)
it takes like 2 minutes to load.

Same issue in windows explorer. navigating through folders (using icons
etc) its quite fast, but typing in an address like c:\somefolder\ takes about
a minute.

also using the address bar from the toolbar is the same. It draws part of
windows explorer but freezes it for about a minute.

any ideas?
thanks,
mcm

Clean all the malware off your system and try again.

Cheers.

there is no detectable malware on this system.
its brand new - only development apps on it as its my DEV computer.
Ran AdAware - nothing
Ran AVG antiVirus - nothing
gets nightly scans run and i have not had any issues regarding found viruses
or anything. Also this problem has been prevalant since the first time i
turned on this computer.

any other ideas?
thanks,
mcm

I'd probably try a credible Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware, besides AVG and
Ad-Aware. Try to get a copy of Webroot Spysweeper and let us all know
what's found after a scan with that.

Perhaps it's an incorrect dns or gateway setting? Are you static or dynamic?

Clear out your temporary Internet Files, reset your Internet Explorer
settings to see if it will fix you problem.

Ooops, your silly top posting has just dropped out the thread, when viewed
with a REAL Usenet newsreader. Fix your posting or stay off Usenet.

BTW, there is no such a thing as a credible anti-virus program, because new
malware is being written hourly and all those av condoms you stack on
Windoze will not find them all. Just FYI.

Cheers.

Oh what a shame.. some linux users have a problem if you put two -- and a
<space> near the top.
Stupid software that gets confused when the sig separator and bottom posting
are not mandatory.
Maybe there is an option for it to work OK?

Ok. thank you to the two who are actually helping. To the other Eternal
September proponents please just stop replying, your not helping and your
retards. How come usenet users are always the rudest? Like this is a MS
forum, why bash here?

Lets set the scene:
1. I am a "seasoned" (20 years) programmer with extensive knowledge in
viruses, networking, windows programming, Operating systems, Internet
Programming among other things. Im not a stupid user who downloads crap
every day
2. This computer is my Windows (VS 2005 DEV BOX ONLY) - No Games, NO extra
programs, No Nothing. I have VS 2005 + SQL Server 2005 Client tools + a few
other dev utilities (one being Tortoise SVN which i think may be the culprit)
3. There is NO MALWARE (confirmed ran SpySweeper, AVG, AdAware, Norton
Virus Scan) Last night.
4. The windows explorer + IE 7 issue has been happening SINCE I FIRST
TURNED ON VISTA.
5. I am running VISTA BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL
6. THe Computer has 2gb of ram + Nvidia integrated Video Card with 256Mb
Memory.
7. Cache and Internet explorer are cleared basically Every Day.

This isssue is obviouslly prevalant among many Vista users because there are
about 1000 threads in this forum alone with users experiencing the same
symptoms as i am. Its obviouslly either a graphics processing issue
(although turning off AERO glass did nothing) or some memory issue because i
also notice that Autocomplete does not work when this happens. So if i start
typing c:\somefolder\ and press down expecting to get a list of sub-folders
it wont work. and this is when both IE and Windows Explorer experience
delays.

Again, thanks to the few who are actually providing help. For the others -
get over it losers.
