Hi,

We have an application which use password protected zip files as backup
solution. The files are zipped and unzipped by the application itself.

It works nicely for any other OS than Vista Home Edition.

Does Vista have any security setting which disallow applications to open
and use password protected zip archives?

Please help us find and disable this 'feature' so we can have Vista
behave like XP in this area. Thanks a lot in advance.

regards

jake

My *guess* is that running the application in Administrator Mode might do
the trick.

Right click on its shortcut and select "Run as administrator".

Thanks, and I will ask the client to try this.

However I would also like to know which setting is the offending one in
this case. Anyone having a clue on where Vista is governing its
sceptisism agaings password protected zip files...?

Guessing it's something in the file ownership, policies and permissions from
the PC the ZIP file was created on. Vista Home has fewer security settings
than Business or Premium, and no settings for group policies AFAIK.
