VISTA home premium install never terminates (~6 hrs)

After two attempts to install via Win Update that reverted, got error 4C7 on
3rd try,
followed advice to disable security suite. Restarted install and it's still
going after 6 hrs. The only activity is a little intermittent internet
access (no disk activity).

Any advice on what I should do. (I've now wasted a day and a half on this.)
