Fixed this myself, may be helpful to others.
Click on Play, select the 'Choose Default Program' option and select Windows
Media Player and save or click ok. Before I found the solution Vista was
using Winrar to try to play the audio file, hence the message 'the archive is
either in unknown format or damaged'
