Vista Home Premium SLOW after updates (30) plus restore "ATTEMPT"

I had about 31 or 32 updates accumulated and went through them and found only
3 or 4 that I elected not to do. After the updates, the system was so slow
that I don't think you would believe me if i did try to emphasize just how
bad it was/is. I have tried to run a few .wmv's and they play less than 10
sec. before freezing and beginning again. It will stay frozen for a
LONGGGGGGGG time before I get my next , <10 secs.. I tried to do a restore
and it would not allow it to use the one chosen. I don't know what is wrong
but before all this and after the updates were done, I had lost all of my
contacts in WLM but had less than 10 and there were some that I did not even
recognized...
Don't know wha else to share to tell of possible issues, but I hope that I
can get some help from what I have given...
thanks...

Hi, beb1954.

Often, I find that the best time to run Windows Update is immediately AFTER
I've run Windows Update. :^{

Sometimes there are other updates that will not be offered until a
prerequisite update is in place. And sometimes a reboot is required to get
ready for the later updates.

Did you run WU again? Have you rebooted since installing those updates?
Which of the offered ones did you decline?

If you press <Win>+<Break>, what does the popup window tell you about your
Windows edition? (In other words, use the Windows logo key - often called
the Start key - like a Shift key while you press the Pause/Break key, in the
upper right of most keyboards. You may need to toggle the <F-Lock> key to
switch from Pause to Break. If this doesn't work, click Start | Control
Panel | System.) Specifically, does it show that you have Service Pack 2
installed?
