Hello ALL,

OK, need some advice. I just purchased an HP m9150f, which came preloaded
with Vista Home Premium. About 2 months ago, I purchased Vista Ultimate. My
question is this; is there enough of a difference between the two that would
justify loading Ultimate over Premium? One of my concerns, some help screens
are geared into Premium, would they get lost in Ultimate, or would they still
be there?

Any other input is welcome!

Thanks for the HELP ~~ Joey

Ultimate is a combination of Home Premium and Business(want to join a domain?)

If it's in Vista Home Premium, then it's in Vista Ultimate.

You obviously don't need any of the functions that Ultimate has over a
Premium because you would have looked into the differences between them at
the time and most likely not have bought the Ultimate version..

Hi Mike,

When I bought Ultimate is was for a PC I had in the XP OS. That PC has
since kicked the bucket (4 years old) and now I have a new up to date PC,
which came in Vista Premium. So I never compared the 2, never had a reason
to. Now I do, so I am trying to find out if it is worth the trouble of
upgrading and possibly losing some of the new PC's pointers that aim at
Premium help files. Will those pointers now take aim at Ultimates help
files, or will they become errors and not valid pointers?

Hope that explains it a little better! Joey

That depends entirely on you and your needs. As a single example, if
you need to join a domain, Home Premium is certainly the wrong choice
for you. If you don't (very few home users do), the lack of support
for doing that in Home Premium is meaningless to you.

Read

or http://tinyurl.com/3843r3

to see the differences in the feature sets of the various Vista
editions.

OK.. :-)

If I were you, I would save your Ultimate Edition for another computer. For
general use, you will get no more out of Ultimate than you ate getting out
of Home Premium. It would just be a waste...

Sorry Joey, I'm a bit late getting in this discussion but it may help someone
coming along in the future.

I asked the same question directly through HP. They told me to review "HP &
Windows Anytime Upgrade". You can work your way through www.HP.com support
functions or go directly to the following URL:

http://h20219.www2.hp.com/services/c...reg_R1002_USEN

This document states exactly what you will lose when upgrading from Vista
Home Premium to Home Ultimate. I will quote exactly some of the issues:

"HP articles are removed from the Help & Support application."

"Links from HP Total Care Advisor to HP articles in the Help & Support
application no longer work."

"Links to HP partner offers are removed from the Welcome Centre."
