Vista Home Upgrade

I put Windows Vista Home Basic Upgrade on my computer about three weeks ago
and now I am having trouble with it constantly freezing up. When I open the
end task window it says it is running but its not. I called my internet
provider and they told me I had to down grade to Windows XP for it to work
correctly because my computer is not compatible with Windows Vista. Before I
purchased Windows Vista I ran the Microsoft program that tells you which
Vista is compatible with your computer and whether it is advisable to use it.
When I ran it Microsoft said it was OK for me to upgrade ...which it isn't.
Now I'm out of $85.00.

Hi,

One: It is irresponsible of your ISP to tell you the system is incompatible
without running a full diagnostic

Two: The upgrade advisor is not perfect, it merely points out known
problems. It is not "smart" enough to percieve potential problems that it is
not aware of.

Have you checked with the computer manufacturer for Vista compatibility?
Sometimes it's as simple as a driver update. Sometimes, the computer simply
is not upgradable, but they should be your first source of information.

Need more info.

Did this happen right away, or after 3 weeks of usage?

What are your hardware specs: CPU, RAM, HD, etc..

Must agree with Rick Rogers on both his points: highly unlikely an ISP help
desk rep is going to have the smarts to determine whether your system is
Vista compatible. Perhaps they meant their connection software is not
compatible with Vista. (If, in fact, you have to use their software to
connect to their service... do you?) And, unfortunately, the Upgrade Advisor
is, hmm, well, truth be told... weak. I know that doesn't help you after the
fact, but there it is.

Lang
