System 1: Vista Home Premium
System 2: XP Home Edition - ( What does XP Stand for BTW)

What I want to do:
I want to set up a Lexmark X2500 Series printer on System 1 so that System 2
can print to it using the internet printing protocol.

Additional Hardware:
Linksys BEFSR41 Router on System 1
Lexmark X2500 Series Printer on System 1 Via USB 2.0
System 2 No router it is a single PC no network
Both systems use Cable internet
Both systems have Windows Live OneCare installed
System 1 also uses VoIp for home phone through BrightHouse Networks

What I have tried:
I have tried to setup VPN connection so that System 2 would connect to
System 1 and share the printer that way if possible, however VPN setup is
not working the machines will not talk or connect even after adding users
and installing the link responder thing on the XP machine.

I have the print server service running on Vista machine.

I would like very clear directions on how to do this. I am currently in my
second year of Computer Science so I am not a total idiot, but would like to
set this up if possible with the limitations of XP Home and Vista Home

I'm not a techie but if you are talking a wireless network, both computers
have to have the same Workgroup name. The default workgroup names for XP and
Vista operating systems are different. I found it easier to change the name
for my XP computer, and once that was done (and everything else was
correct), they could communicate. Could this be your problem?
