Vista keeps failing config updates, error code not on Microsoft si

Hi
Vista keeps updating and configuring and rebooting all the time.
It doesn't succeed, and the error code 80071A2C is nowhere to be found at
Microsoft support nor Google.
I've uninstalled AVG, switched off administrator settings etc, but it still
doesn't work.

What can I do now?

Hi,
for me, I had the same problem.
After re-installing Vista with the recovery-disk I got the same problem.
Then, I thought next:
I changed 1 thing after I re-installed vista:
My disk has 2 partitions after re-install.
Drive C and drive E; this happens automatically.
I don't think that's logical, because drive D is the DVD-player.
So I changed drive E to D (and D becomes E).
Then I got the same problems again after windows update.

So, again I reinstalled Vista. Now without changing the drive-letters.
And voila... The problem is gone.
