Vista, large zip file, performance non-existant

Vista Home Premium, SP1

I have a large zip file in at folder (178mb). It contains about a
dozen sub files.

I clicked on the file in explorer from my (slower) XP machine and I
was able to see the contents in couple seconds. Clicking on it in
Vista took about 2 minutes - the window even changed the title bar to
"not responding" for a while. Another click on a folder within the
archive took 2 more minutes to get a list of files.

Is there some way to improve zip file performance in Vista? My vista
system is not slow otherwise... I already have performance settings
maximized (minimal graphics & such).
