Where to begin. I bought vista about 4 months ago and move to thailand to
work. Where I live is in a rural village and power is not so steady so i get
power spikes. I was having problems with my computer crashing all the time
then one day my ntfs.sys file got corrupted and I couldn't get on vista at
all. So I got a cd and repaired my system. No problem very easy repair and I
went on about my work. Then the next time i turn on my system i get an error
saying my product code is no longer valid and i need to re-authenticate my
system. When i check it on microsofts website it tells me that it is not
correct and tells me to buy a new serial When i just bought one 4 months ago.
Please help me i am unable to get on vista and need to use vista for my work.

Josh

I believe this is something you need to contact MS officials about. Proof of
purchase may help things.

Make sure your installed version of Windows Vista is activated.
Follow this procedure:

You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4"
(w/o the quotes) in the Start Search box in the Start Menu and pressing Enter.
The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes.

Note: The "Start Search" box is located right above the Vista blue start button
when you click on it.

Two suggestions:

Get a UPS unit to protect your PC (not just a surge protector) and then
you will get time to shut down correctly, if the power is not restored
in a few minutes (or on some UPS units it will shut down your PC
correctly if you are not there and it is running)

I live in the self-syled Lightning Capital of the World and I have UPS
units on the PC, answering machine, fax machine and TV/HIFI <g>

Try the activation again and when it rejects you (if it does again)
follow the procedure for phone activation. This seems to fix this
problem in many cases. If you are outside the USA check the Microsoft
website for contact numbers in your locality.

There is no charge for this kind of support call.
