Vista lockup - how to setup new Windows event logs

My Vista business system periodicaly locks up requiring a hard reboot (system
becomes unresponsive, mouse/keyboard don't work). There are no events
recorded in the default Windows Logs and there is no consistency as to when
the crashes occur other than that they have not occured when I'm away from my
computer (ie. I'm typing, or moving the mouse).

I would like to set up some custom logs of events or enable the appropriate
Data Collector Sets that would hopefully provide info on what is happening
prior to these crashes. I would appreciate any help or suggestions as to how
to set this up. ie. which logs are most likely to be useful, how do I set
these up or which Data Collector Sets to enable.
