I know this is a on going thing with Vista but realy Mircosoft should have
worked the bugs out before putting there product in the stores.I just build a
new AMD Phenom Quad Core system im running the Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe MB with
the AMD 9600 Phenom CPU with 8 gigs of G Skill DDR2 Ram with 2 HIS 2900GT
video cards in Crossfire mode. And I bought Windows Vista Home Premium 64
Bite. And all I get out of this OS is lockups after I installed Vista I
download the updates Hmm lockups after I got them installed. tryed 5 times
for the MB drivers lockups.them after I got them installed then tryed the
video drivers lockups. Then after pulling out all my hair I just went back to
Windows XP 64 Bite.So like I said Mircosoft fix your OS before you put it in
the stores. And maybe when you do get it fixed I will try again.

Hmm, so you are saying its Microsoft who is responsible for the device
drivers? You notice the stark contrast when you reinstalled Windows XP
Professional x64? The drivers worked! Now who was responsible for the device
drivers here, the chipset manufacturer or Microsoft?

Microsoft does not write device drivers.

Always remember that MS are a marketing company first and a software company
second.

Once you realise this you won't have those type of problems. Another way of
looking at it is - would you buy a car without first test driving it? The
answer is probably NO.

So next time you buy a MS product, stop for a second and say to yourself "
I'm buying a product from a fantastic marketing company who also makes
software."

So you are telling me on every driver I try to install for every piece of
hardware that it locks up on its not the OS.Well anyways I put XP 64 back in
and my new build is running like a charm.

It wouldn't take all of them to be bad, just one.

No ones stopping the OP from choosing an alternative platform such as Unix
or Linux he will have the luxury of compiling his own drivers for the OS
without the guarantee of it actually working.

Trust

The hardware drivers are usually OS specific. Drivers that work on XP may
not work on Vista. You should check with the manufacturer of the hardware
for Vista compatible drivers.

Before you do a build check you can get the drivers.
I built the rig I am using now (not my first build).
I checked that signed drivers were available before the build.
When doing a build a bit of prep is in order to make sure it works.

your problem is the 8gb of ram. Crossfire will not work with 6gb+ of ram. But
there is a fix. Download ATI Drivers, They are the problem!!! Download
atleast 8.1 or higher. But you will lose crossfire. 2900gt Crossfire Support
will now be availble till Q2 2008. Check ATI for details. I'm stuck in the
same boat as you.
