how can I take a screenshot of my logon screen ctrl+alt+prt scr didn't
work

You could do this in XP but they have seem to removed the ability to do so
in Vista. I would use a Digital Camera and take a picture.

Install Virtual PC (Free from Microsoft)

Then install Windows XP under your Virtual PC.

The start this second Windows XP, which will apear in a "window"

You can now take a screen shot of this window.

Thats how I do it too, but to go through all that just to take a screenshot
of the log on screen?

Agree. I used my digi-cam to take photos of the Bios screens before I
updated it.
