Have Vista Home Premium . Yesterday I lost the ability to download. I have
been downloading game trials from SpinTop, BigFish, MSN, and Yahoo. I
download the free trials for 1hour of play, then decide if I want to buy or
not. Now when I hit the download botton choose either "run" or "save", the
whole dialogue box either disappears, or when the setup exe reaches 100% and
the header says "verifying" the box disappears. This is happening on all of
the sites I have previously downloaded from...I need help. I am not a techno,
so if you can help me, please do so in terms that this Granny can
understand....Thank you !

Try cleaning your cache...

Also you can use the firefox browser until you find a solution to the
problem

-- I am a newbie, so I don't know what you mean by cache. Since I posted
this, Acer has contacted me and I did a System Restore, but it hasn't worked.
Any other suggestions?

Click Start > type Internet Options > click it > under the General (tab) >
Browsing History > click Delete

If that does not work, try resetting your Internet Explorer settings. On the
same window, click the Advanced tab > under 'Reset Internet Explorer
settings' click 'Reset'.

If Andre's suggestion doesn't help, you may need to run Disk Cleanup or
download and run Smarty Uninstaller to clear the debris from repeated
install/uninstalls, failed or broken downloads and installs, and to remove
trial programs no longer needed. Please see the tutorials here.

I just tried the links in my reply to your post and they took me right to the

Are you sure that's not a connection problem rather than
an IE problem?
As Tie Various said, you can try Firefox.
Go to www.mozilla.org. Firefox is very easy to install
and uninstall. If you don't like it you can always go back to
IE. But Firefox is faster, easier and safer than IE in general.
And in this case it would provide a way to narrow down your
problem as well: If you have no trouble with Firefox then the
problem is with IE. If you do have trouble with Firefox
then the problem is with your connection.
