I have created a html file formatted using css (in the file not linked
externally) and have chosen this file for my signature, however when I click
create mail it doesn't show any formatting or any images i've linked to?? (I
know the html file is coded correctly and that it displays correctly in my
browser (ie7)).

Please help its driving me mad.

Yes Ron,
The problem isn't with the html file because that renders fine in a browser
(I write websites in my spare time!)
It must have something to do with Windows Mail.

A html file created with Word will render fine in a browser, but that
doesn't mean it can be used for a signature.

Is the html file smaller than 4 kb?

Can you post the code for the html file?

you have to select HTML as sending format and also click the option to enable pictures.

Signatures only use what is between the body tags.
Setup your 'signature' as Stationery.
The style elements are retained in stationery.
You can auto insert the stationery or do it manually.

What is color #fff or #333?

nice one Ron,
For some reason I thought that setting it as stationary would mean that it
would show in the background and wouldnt move down each new line!!

Thanks for getting me back on track.
Mark

p.s. #fff and #333 are shorthand versions of #ffffff and #333333
