I never post here so people be patient with me and sorry for my lack of
literacy last time the only help i got was insults after insults for the fact
that I don't have time or the desire to spend my life here

Ok i had several ussies with vista ok ok !
But what happen last night was the one for the book

Before the forced update this 8.5 version 2008 8.5 1288.816
I had the other beta version and it was working fine well we can say soso
since i got this new version it frezzes with a passion

but last night it really got me worried I was video chating with 2 people
(( a very important chat )) then my connection was totally lost the pc VISTA
LAPTOP is frozen it was like that for 8 minutes they only way to shut it
down was to manually press the power button and force a shut down

then i try to conect to my DSL for 3 hours and i couldn't after 3am and
with ATT on the line i totally give up

I want to blame my camera logitech deluxe for notebooks that i have
installed 6 times because like we all know vista is the worst to get other
programs or software to work

I want to blame LIVE ONE CARE that turns off the main windows vista firewall

I want to blame vista but I honestly lost my desire to complain about vista
because is useless is just a lost case they never admit anything

I even want to blame ATT for my connection lost (( which in 5 years it has
happen twice and last night was one of those times ))

any suggestions?? help? any words of courage?

OK but this is a messenger discussion board not an online psychological
support
Relax, man, there are bigger disasters in the world.
Go to Vista forum and have a read. You're not alone.

Words of courage ... you are not alone! This is the way it goes with beta
software ... when we run beta, we are testing it to see if it is working ...
there are so many different configurations of computers and the programmers
have nightmares, too, trying to cover it all ... (g)

What is interesting to me is that you were using the latest version ... had
successfully established a video chat ... and it was working for awhile. Did
you have any delays or trouble establishing the chat session? Or did it work
fine and then all of a sudden go south on you?

If you prevent this particular version of Messenger from starting up, can
you get back out to the internet through your DSL connection? Or is that
still messed up, even with Messenger not running/disabled/uninstalled?

Do you have any relevant entries in the Event Log Viewer? Does your firewall
report anything in its logs around the time of the freeze? Did Defender
start up to update or run a scan? Or your antivirus? Or any other software
that runs a scheduled task? What about your IP lease? Did it release and
renew about that time? (Don't know if this applies to a DSL connection ...)

If you just want to dispense with troubleshooting, you could uninstall this
latest beta that is not working with your laptop configuration and then try
the next beta release when it comes out ... or wait for the final release
....

good luck ... Vista users understand frustration (g) ... I certainly reached
my breaking point a few weeks ago after fighting with Vista since late
January ...

I was reminded of this in a recent post I read elsewhere: ... XP has been
in Service Pack 2 for so long, perhaps we have forgotten all the things that
broke when XP first came out ... vanilla

got the 1 beta --------3 months ago i got the other new beta ------------ and
2 weeks ago I got the official version ---------- this last one is not
working for me 100%
like it should --------- (( to be honest I have not use my $100.00 worthless
webcam lately ))I have been chating normally no problems I think I really
think it might be my WEBCAM I'am not sure ! I'm still doing the investigation

---- well at the beginning no problem -- after 10 minutes is when i see the
problem

------------- no problem with that

------------------ well I have LOC -live one care and LOC did not show up
any attacks or anything ----- the only report or log i see is the problem
report solutions always reporting the problem with messenger to micro

Did Defender

--------no

What about your IP lease? Did it release and
