Hello *'*rba88usa*' (http://www.vistax64.com/member.php?u=160266)*

Welcome to Vista Forums

I would re-installing the drivers to your keyboard and mouse

You should be able to do this through the Device Manager

Thanks for the answer, but how can I get to the device manager, if I ca
not even login into the computer. Keep in mind, the keyboard does no
work at all, and the same thing with the mouse. So when the machin
starts I get to the login screen and can not do anything, no mous
movement and no keyboard response at all. That is my dilemma. Thanks

Can you move your mouse or use your keyboard if you start in safe mode

Shut the machine down, unplug it and open the case. Remove the battery on
the mainboard and move the "clear CMOS" jumper to the other pin for a few
seconds. Replace the jumper to it's original position and replace the battery
(buy a new one if the computer is older than 3-4 years). This should restore
the BIOS to default settings. Close the case, plug in and boot the machine.
Enter the BIOS and use the arrow, enter, and escape keys to navigate the
BIOS. Change the boot order to place the CD drive first, disable boot from
USB, place the hard drive second. Save the changes and exit the BIOS. Allow
the machine to come to the desktop. Check the function of the mouse and
keyboard in Windows.

Do the keyboard and mouse work on the computer you are using to make posts
here?

If the keyboard does not work in order to get to BIOS.
It sounds like your mouse & keyboard are USB devices.
Hopefully, you have a PS/2 port or two, and can try a PS/2 mouse or
keyboard.

Possible reasons for your problem involve both hardware and software.
It's also possible that the MBD USB ports are not working.

1. Chuck asked if you can get into your BIOS. If not, that indicates a
hardware problem.

2. For testing purposes, beg, borrow, or steal another mouse and keyboard
that are known to work and plug them into your computer.
