Is there an equivalent to the moveuser.exe tool from the Server 2003
resource kit for Vista?

I'm wondering how I would migrate a person from XP to Vista. Currently if I
migrated someone to XP I would use XP's backup tool to backup their data,
create a local user account on the new PC with their username, restore the
data to that new user's profile, and use moveuser to associate the data with
their AD user.
What's the equivalent way of doing this in Vista?
Thanks,
Jeremy Dennis

Hi

I haven't the answer but at least one advice :
don't use the backup of Xp, the Vista utility doesn't recognize these files
(bkf file)
big shame !!!

I've already encountered that, but I could just as easily archive the
profile directory with another tool.

Have you looked at the User State Migration Tool?

http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true

or even the built in Windows Easy Transfer

http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true

This will transfer files and settings - everything but actual programs:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Windows Easy Transfer
