Vista or my driver? HDMI = BSOD

I've asked around without success so far. I have a computer that I've
connected to my 1080p HDTV. If I try using an HDMI cable, I get a BSOD with
Vista, but it does work OK with XP.
There is something else I'm encountering - when I'm using XP, I'm showing
the native resolution is 1366x768, but the TV specs are 1920x1080... I'm
wondering if the TV is really mis-advertised, or the driver isn't picking it
up correctly. If I set the resolution to 1920x1080, the picture looks funny.
