Vista needing reboot?

I find that after working on my Dell Inspiron 6400/MS Vista for a number of
hours and after opening up a number of IE7 windows, Vista won't let me access
any other options. For example, if I clicked on another link that opens up a
new IE7, nothing opens up nor can I access any docs or even the reboot option
in the Start menu.

As a result, I have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete in order to get the machine to work
again normally. Does anyone have a fix or know whats going on?
