I got a new Dell laptop last week with Vista Home Premium installed.
(I'm a little sorry I didn't get one with XP right now.) Anyway, I
hooked it up to our home LAN via the Ethernet cable to the router, no
problem. The other two machines on the LAN are running XP. The first
day I was able to copy several picture files from my desktop to the new
laptop. Then I lost access to the files on the desktop from the laptop.
Today I restored to last weeks status, but still can't see the
desktops. I can't see the laptop files from the desktop either,
although I can see my wife's desktop. I'm running Live Onecare on all
three machines. Works fine; my desktop is the hub and can see the
laptop Onecare. The laptop is getting on the Internet fine- did Windows
update and shows the weather from the Wunderground site again today.
My next step is to do the Dell Factory Image Restore or reinstall Vista
using the CDs Dell supplied.
Any suggestions? TIA!
