Vista Networking failure

I have an IBM T60p with Vista Ultimate installed. After something like 36
hours I lose the ability to connect to the Internet through programs like IE
7 or Windows Mail, until I reboot the T60p. I can however launch the command
prompt and ping say Google.com, or do a tracert to google.com. That tells me
that my Internet connection is up and working okay. As expected resetting
the wireless router, and the cable modem does nothing. Switching from the
internal T60p Wi-Fi card to a external Linksys WPC300N has no effect.
Disabling the Windows Firewall has no effect. As far as I can tell this is a
completely normal windows Vista install, with nothing unusual. It is fully
up to date.

Thanks

Hi David,

Since you have a router, and wireless at that, you might check to see
if Auto Tuning may be a issue for you. Go to the link below and follow
the step by step instructions to see. If it's not, you can always turn
Auto Tuning back on with "no harm no foul" to your computer.

Hope this helps,

I suggest that you take the router out of the equation and hook the computer
directly to the modem to see if the problem follows.

I also suggest that you post to alt.internet.wireless, since you have a
wireless router in play.

I strongly suspect that as I can both ping and tracert from a command prompt
but can not connect from IE and from Windows Mail, that it is a Vista
problem and NOT a router problem. Ping and resolving names at the command
prompt level strongly suggest to me that this is not a router problem but
thanks for the input.

Well thanks for the thought, but auto-tuning is not the issue, I have
disabled it and I am still seeing the problem.
