VISTA "not genuine" after sp1

I have an OEM vista on my HP notebook that worked fine until sp1 attempt
yesterday. Now it says "not genuine" and I have limited functionality.

HELP!!!

You probably need to merely reactivate the system as the application of
the service pack can kick a reactivation.

Go to the Control panel, see if it says you need activation and you will
have to call in and talk to a human. Internet activation won't work.

(please note that I think this is a STUPID move on the part of
Microsoft, treating your legal customers in this manner is insane )

You are prompted to activate Windows Vista after you install Windows Vista
Service Pack 1:
