Vista will not install some programs

Very strangely, Vista 32-bit home premium will install most programs
but will not install others: Mappoint 2006, Nero 7 and the update for
Symantec antivirus. I've reinstalled the OS a couple of times, and it
stalls with these three. I run the installations from CDs.

These same CDs begin installing without a problem in two other PCs
with Vista and XP, respectively...In this particular system, I just
get the little circle after I press install and nothing happens. Any
advice?

Hello,

Have you verified that it is not the cd-rom drive that is the problem? Can
you copy the contents of the cd to a network share on another machine and
see if it will install from there?
