Vista not loging on - URGENT

Hi, my laptop will not logon to vista, I am getting a black screen with
system32/logonUi.exe. I have important files on the hardrive which I need to
get off. Any help would be grateful

Try booting into Safe mode and see if the system comes up. By the way, if
you do get into your system, the first thing you should do is backup your
data. Let's say your computer started normally and the hard drive died.
Where would you be?

NO, SAFEMODE WILL NOT LET ME IN EITHER

Boot off the Vista DVD and try a repair. Your system files might be
repaired and it should leave your data alone.

One way would be to boot a Linux Live CD such as Knoppix and copy the data
to a flash drive or some other external medium.
