Vista partitioning issue.

In the Windows Vista partitioner, I am running into a couple of problems.

1) Shouldn't the C:\ drive be showing up as the first partition on my
system, as it is the system boot and primary partition (not to mention C
comes before D)?

2) Once partition D:\ is deleted, and is shown as unallocated space, I
see no option on the C:\ partition to expand the partition into the
unallocated space that I just made available to it.

All answers appreciated in advance.

Sorry for the cut off.

Continuation:

I've been wondering why the partitioner still doesn't work as well as it
did on XP. Has Microsoft not figured this error out yet?

The Max,

As per your first question; Yes, I am referring the "Disk Management"
dialog.

The C:\ is the first partition that was created on this drive, however,
it fails to show as the first partition. It was created during Windows
installation, using the partitioner that is provided to you during that
time. I created the C:\ partition with 28 GB of space first, and D:\
partition with 87 GB of space second. The representation of the partition
table in the Disk Management dialog shows the D:\ partition as the first
partition, and C:\ partition as the second. You have already answered the
question of the expanding, so how are you able to reverse the pictorial
representation of the partitions?

Colton-
If you're talking about the order of the listing under
"Volume/Layout/Type/File System/Status", it seems to be listed
alphabetically.
In my system,it shows: HP_Recovery (D,Local Disk (C,Page Files (P,
Secondary Drive (S in that order.(2 physical drives)
Once I click on the "Status" column header,it changes the order to
C:,D:,P:,& S:.

I hope this is what you're asking.
As far as the partition software that was suggested-I use Easeus Partition
Manager Home Edition 3.0 & it works like a charm & will allow you to expand
your C: partition into the unallocated space,by simply dragging the edges of
it , Apply & a reboot.
It can be found here: http://www.easeus.com/download.htm

Gary,

Unfortunately, changing the order of the column layout will not help the
issue I am facing. The problem is that the partition order has actually
switched to where the graphical pictures in the Disk Management that shows
the layout of your allocated space. Max has said that this is caused by
partition D:\ being ahead of partition C:\. Guess it's up to 3rd party
programs again.
