My new pc came with Windows Vista Home Premium. 2GB RAM/ Intel Dual Core
E216. It seems very sluggish - click on something and wait a very long time
for it to open. I was considering upgrading to Ultimate, but I'm afraid it
will be the same or worse. Has anyone done this? Is Microsoft working on a
solution for this? Should I just "upgrade" to XP Pro?
Also, is there a mail package that will work in Vista besides Office? I
don't want to transfer my Office Pro license to this machine until I'm sure
it is going to work for me. I can send and receive mail in MS Hotmail, but
that's about it.

Vista comes with Windows Mail. You may prefer Windows Live Mail, which
you can download from Microsoft:

Windows Live Mail will connect to Hotmail, but Windows Mail will not.

Upgrading to Vista Ultimate will not speed up your PC. In fact,
it would probably slow it down some more since Ultimate loads
more processes than Home Premium.

This newsgroup deals mainly with the Windows Mail program.
If you need assistance with general Vista issues, please post in
the microsoft.public.windows.vista.general.

Thunderbird mail works fine in Vista.
