Vista places a shield in the lower right corner of some application icons - What is it?

Hi,

I noticed that on some of my applications that Windows Vista includes a
shield as part of the application icon in the lower right corner. What is
the shield supposed to represent?

It means that the file with the shield requires UAC permissions to run. See
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/w.../aa906021.aspx for more
information on that, if you'd like. Basically, it's just going to ask you if
you are sure you want to run that program.

This is to indicate that the application might require Administrative
priviledges or invoke the User Account Control dialog.
