I have a Thinkpad Z61m with Vista Business and have discovered that by
going into the Power Options configuration interface and setting the
power options for the Wireless Adapter Settings to Maximum
Performance, Internet performance improves DRAMATICALLY. I have saved
this latptop's power plan to the Maximum Performance option but the
problem is that after this laptop goes into sleep mode, the Wireless
Adapter Setting power option resets to Maximum Power Saving (Internet
performance sucks in this mode). So this means that whenever I go to
use this laptop after it goes into sleep mode, I have to manually go
into the wireless adapter settings configuration interface and reset
it to Maximum Performance every time. A mild pain for me but my wife
barely knows how to use a mouse.
I know that there's a lot of chatter out there regarding Vista's power
management options but I haven't seen anybody with an answer to this
particular issue. I'm hoping that there's a registry tweak or
something that I can do to make sure that the wireless adapter setting
always stays on Maximum Performance. Let me know what you think - TIA.
