Vista printer via router

I have an existing home network with a Linksys BESR41 router and a
Linksys PSUS4 print server connected to the router and two PCs. After
a hard drive crash one of the PCs on the system was upgraded to Vista
home premium.

The printer cannot be found on the vista PC. I assume I'm attached to
the network correctly because I am connected to the internet and can
use email on vista. The printer is available on the XP PC and they
are both on the same network so it should be avbailable the Vista.

Under networks on Vista I see nothing except the vista PC. Ive
followed the printer installation wizard to no avail.

Any help will be appreciated

Go to the Control Panel/network and sharing center, enable network
discovery.

Thanks Rick, I check and Discovery was enabled. I now remeber haveing
problems getting XP to see the PSUS4 print server. Installing on my
wifes XP was different than on my XP PC... I need to go play with
that before I ask for more help.

Did you run the PSUS4 setup, and then install the driver for
the printer? This must be done for each PC that has to access
the printer. I have a Linksys print server, and have found
that the Linksys Bi-admin interface is better for setting up
and configuring the print server.

I ran the PSU4 setup and then atempted to installed the printer via
the Vista wizard. wierd thing is I never see the printer server, on
the network, like I do in XP. In Vista All I see is my PC the only
reason I know Im connected is that I can use the internet and email.
Stuff seems hidden in Vista...
Printer still not working I will try Bi-admin interface.

that to be a necessity to be able to consistently access the
server from more than one PC, especially if you turn everything
off at night, or run with a PC or the server off, at times, or
occasionaly use other LAN devices, such as a PDA. In either
case, get the IP address from the XP PC, and use that address
in Internet Explorer on the Vista machine to try to connect to
the PSU4's web interface.

Do you set a fixed address in the router interface, or the printers?
Im assume for now its in the router, I think there is a "static" IP
can be assigned in the Linksys BESR41. Ill look at that.

Do you set a fixed address in the router interface, or the printers?
Im assume for now its in the router, I think there is a "static" IP
can be assigned in the Linksys BESR41. Ill look at that.

You address the PSU4 directly using your web browser from
the XP PC the same way you access the PSU4's internal
settings. You change its TCPIC settings from DHCP to
fixed addressing, then assign a fixed address. It's all explained
in the server's .pdf manual.

Bi-admin interface I found that is was already fixed and that it was
visible to the Vista PC (at least in the Bi-admin interface). I
reinstalled the printer and with some manipulation I was able to get
it to work. when I get home I plan to recreate what I did and post it
here in case someone comes along with the same problem.
