Vista problem (wont load)

this morning i got onto my desktop, which is less then 5 months old and
has been working fine up until now. Im pretty sure its windows vista
home premium (i think). I got onto it this morning and it was a little
sluggish, but i wasnt really worried about it since it cleared up pretty
quickly. I tried to shut it off, and i went to do some other stuff.

about three hours later I came back and found that it hadnt shut off,
and it was showing a blue screen like the old 95 desktop, and a large
old mouse pointer. nothing was on the screen besides that. I tried
ctrl-alt-del but it didnt do anything, so i had to hold down the power
button to shut it off. I waited a few minutes and turned it back on, it
did the normal start up routine and went to the menu that asks if you
want to start in safe mode or normal mode.

Its only done that a couple other times, and its never had problems if
i just start it in normal mode. So i tried that and it went through all
the start up stuff, showed a blue screen with a bunch of white righting
on it for a half second and then rebooted and went to the safe or normal
mode load menu again. I tried doing safe mode and it just went through
the load and sat there with a blank black screen with the old white
cursor. i also tried to do the backup restore thing, f11 when booting
up, and it just went back to the blue screen that it had at the very
beginning. any idea what i can do to fix it? like i said it is a pretty
new computer and has never had problems before.

It is under warranty; contact the manufacturer, or point of sale, immediately.
