Vista PS1 modules installer help

i've downloaded SP1 (64) for vista from microsoft website.. when im
installing i get this pop up error message Windows Modules Installer stoped
working and was closed.. how can i fis tis problem?

there are two types of SP1 for vista X64 and X84 which one do i need for a 64
bit dual core CPU?

To find out if you are running the 32-bit or 64-bit edition of the Windows Vista®
operating system:
1. Click Start and then click Computer.
2. From the menu bar, click System properties to view basic information about your

well ive just tried doing all thats u mentioned and still no luck! 3/4
through instailation it says windows module installer has stoped working!

Did you contact MS? - Unlimited installation and compatibility support for Vista SP1 is
available at no charge through 18 Mar-09)?

You did state that you tried it all so I assume you have contacted MS and are awaiting
their response.
