Is vista PS2 out?

Hi all,
Can anyone confirm if vista SP2 is out? I was trying to get a laptop the
other day and one of the sales reps says SP2 was out about 2 weeks ago and
vista is now faster and more generic drivers for accessories are available
once SP2 is installed. I've checked MS site and found none.

I don't know what the sales rep was thinking about, but SP1 isn't released to
the general public yet. SP2 is a ways off.

If I were you, I would not even do business with the "sales rep"
who said "SP2 was out about 2 weeks ago...". That is an utterly
false statement. SP1 for Vista was just completed and will be
available sometime in mid-March. Also, there is no SP2 and no
need for a SP2 at this time.

I think he is referring to SP1, which is scheduled to be released mid-March.
And yes, it does make a very big difference!

Hi Lanre,

The final version of the Vista SP1 has been released to OEM's already,
but it will not be released to the public until mid-March in Windows
Update.

It's Service Pack 1. And, yes, it is out now, only not easily had unless you
go through more specious sources. It's been released to manufacturing and
volume customers can download it right now, but it is not generally
available via Windows Update until March sometime.

SP2 does not exist. SP1 was just released to manufacturing a few days
ago, and even that won't be available for downloading before
mid-March.
