Vista RC1 : I have had it with Vista

I have installed the RC1 version of Vista SP1.

It is absolutely worthless to go through the installation :
All the annoyances are still there - just acouple of examples :
- the UAC annoyances did not improve.
- copying files still takes forever.
- unzipping a file takes forever.
That was enough for me to decide once and forever not to go on with the
Vista turtle - SORRY.

I bought my computer from DELL with Vista Home Premium.
And I am going to insist on having Vista replaced by XP - that's for sure.
Vista SP1 RC1 is a NO GO

Please note that Vista SP1 RC1 is still in development and the focus of
Windows Vista SP1 is to really a role of collection of updates that have
been release for the OS since January in addition to supporting new
standards and technologies on market.

Turn UAC OFF.

Are you using Winzip?

I just unziped a 35 meg file with 800 files in about 15 sec
on a P4 3.2. It got to be something you have set wrong.

An RC1 is almost RTM isn't it, and that counts for Vista SP1-RC1 as well I
presume.
Well in this case RC1 is far below expectations : I have been testing an
earlier beta that was much more promising than the RC1 (what a shame).

SP1 does not seem to do away with the annoyances of the initial version :
UAC, slowlyness, etc.

New standards & technologies are of course very wellcome, on condition that
they add features and possibilities.
The features should never be "annoying"
The progress should never be a slower OS

That is why I would like DELL or MS to replace my Vista OS (that I paid for)
by a good old XP OS (that I paid for with my previous computer).
I guess that it is not too much asked, or am I mistaking ?

I have been using Windows since 1986 :
- Windows 3.0
- Windows 3.1
- Windows 3.11
- Windows 95
- Windows 98
- Windows 98 SE
- Windows XP
- Windows XP SP2
and now Vista

Every new version has been a joy, except Vista which is an annoying, slow
nightmare !
The best OS ever by MS has been Windows XP - and I want it back, although I
paid for Vista.

"...I would like DELL or MS to replace my Vista OS..."
Microsoft won't since it is OEM.
As long as you are still in the Dell return period, contact Dell.
Since Dell continues to sell computers with Windows XP and exchange
should be possible.
I certainly would return something that did not meet my expectations.

WinRAR is good too. Using the built-in "compressed folder" crap has been
awful since it was introduced. It was crap in XP and it's crap now. It's
hardly a knock against Vista, it's always been crap.

I also can't believe the number of people that are soooooo ****ed about UAC.
Turn it off already.

I've read a lot about slow copying and slow deleting, so I don't doubt that
some people are experiencing it. But I'm not. Hooray for me, I guess.

I have been hoping since the beginning if this year (March 2007 - when I
bought my new DELL computer with Vista) that Vista would become OK.

One of the previous Beta SP1 versions has shown to me that it was becoming
OK indeed.
The available SP1 RC1 blew away all my hopes however.

That's all.
No more Vista (MS) for me I am afraid, and DELL is not going to replace my
Vista by an XP after so many months.

I guess that i have to go for another OS with another Office suite test one
of these days.
Ever lasting loving (MS since 1986) lasts untill it becomes too annoying
:-))
