Vista RC1 Update error, 8024400A

It was suggested that I post this question in this newsgroup also. I thank

Windows Update stopped working back on 10/6/06 and reports the error
8024400A. Windows Defender is now showing a Red Security Shield in the

You may get some help here but in general, posters with vista betaware
problems are referred to the correct group from which you have been sent.
Not wishing to waste your time, but any of the below may be an option for
you.
I do not know - I am one of those who will not install any betaware product
on my one and only computer.

Thanks, BTW: This is a spare computer I made from left over parts. I'm not
going to load Vista on my main machine either. If you haven't seen Vista
it's has interesting changes and some that are really annoying. UAC will be
the biggest complaint from anyone who does more that turn on a computer and
only use the preloaded software.

Yes, its best on a spare computer if you have one - good idea.

Yes I have on a friends - cant say I am that impressed with it - but then I
wasnt with XP - but I run XP in Classic anyway :-)

I have read enough about the problems with vista that come into the XP
groups - I will wait for the SP1 version like I did with XP.
Then I will take the plunge.
