Hello,

I bought Vista and I made an ENORMOUS mistake. I definitely should have
bought XP.

They renamed everything so you're just lost qhen you come from XP.

Search tool does not find all files correponding to search (e.g. if your
search "sql" it finds phpwebgallery_structure.sql but not mysql.inc.php .

You have to go through a tons of menu to get your IP address where it
was so easy through the connectuion incon in XP.

You have to click "Yes I want to laucnh Firefox" every timle you want to
launch Firefox.

.....

I hope the SP1 will come very quick qnd fix all this bugs!

These seem to be pretty minor reasons to condemn an entire operating
system.

If you did not expect the user interface to change, then what did you
expect from a new operating system? Indeed, as I recall the change in
user interface was widely reported as one of the biggest changes.

I am not sure that all you are describing is 'bugs' rather than
changes or user misunderstandings but if you did not expect to find
bugs in a brand new operating system then you don't know much about
software.

I do work in software and I do know no software is bug free. But
regressions on basic functions as search.....

Once you turn off UAC, and get by the fact that some of your favorite
programs no longer work as they should, Vista's not half bad. Not bad for a
beta version.

Too bad they didn't finish it a little better in the betas and RC's. Just
my opinion.

Oh, just found out that the TCP inconsistencies have not been fixed yet,
either. Damn it, that one makes me mad. I can deal with the rest, but
communication is what this day and age is all about. Come on MS, wake up
and smell the coffee!!!

I've not found it that hard, it took me a while to find where they'd moved
"add remove programs" to.

I've just tried on mine and it seems to work fine. Are you searching
indexed files or all local hard drives?

Disable UAC. It'll complain at you and tell you how unsecure your system
is, and keeps asking if you like to be shown how to fix the "Problem."

I'm quite liking Vista, my two major gripes are the fact that they've naffed
up 3D sound in EAX games and that they say my system in unsecure because
I've turned UAC off. BTW if anyone knows how to stop it complaining about
that please let me know.

Cheers, pitty there's not option to just stop monitoring UAC like there is
for the firewall.

Thanks.

You must type *<WHAT YOUR SEARCHING>* with a '*' either side of what you
want to find. This was the same with XP so I don't know what you're doing
wrong now.
